VICTORY INTERVIEWS GOLDEN AGE RAP ARTIST, MIC GERONIMO ON WWW.GOINGSOUTHMAGAZINE.COM

MIC GERONIMO
by viktory for gsm

I was out in Harlem, enjoying the nice weather and promoting fliers for my party since I am the Bronx Supreme Promoter. There was a few young guys, no older then eighteen free styling on the corner, and I said to myself  “Dam these cats are wack”. I was so drained out by listening to these no talent guys spitting their day care rhymes, so I , (ha ha ha) walked across the street to promote my fliers. While I was working, I seen a brother walking towards me and I said to myself  “This guy look like Mic Geronimo.” And it was Mic Geronimo! I introduced myself and, since I had my tape recorder with me, I asked him for a interview.

V: So what is up Mic?  What have u been up too man?
MG: Well I took a break  to spend time with my family and expand myself . I started  2 companies, Rebellious Music & Mass Bomb Ent.  Rebellious Music is a label dealing with my peoples in Queens. Mass Bomb Ent. is dealing with Fashion and Music. Also, I started a company called creative design, this is where I am showing my skills as a graphic artist. I was thinking about giving up Rap music, but while I was touring in Europe, I felt so much love from the fans that it made me appreciate Rap. Also being a known rapper there was always an opportunity for me. So I decided to keep on rapping.

V: Are are you still dealing with a record label or are you independent?
MG: I am independent.

V: Being that you are from Queens, are you still affiliated with other Queens emcees such as Royal Flush, Nore, Nas etc?
MG: I still fuck with Flush that is my man, and I am still cool with the other Queens emcees.

V: Have you change up your style in anyway since we are in a new decade of Rap music?
MG: My swagga is mostly the same but I move with the times to a certain degree.

V: For those who do not know, how did you started in the rap game?
MG: I basically got down with Large Professor and Large was like a big brother. A guy by the name of Chucky Madness used to have me on his mixtapes. Irv Gotti, which is a friend of Chucky, introduced me to Irv, then I started to work with him.

V: How does it feel to be apart of the time where Rap music was really at it’s peak ?
MG: It’s a good feeling. It’s something you can not put a dollar on . It was a start of Hip Hop being a global thing. Just to know Biggie and Tupac and collaborating with Lost Boys, Lox, Dmx, Jah Rule and Jay Z etc. were special moments of my career.

V: What is your advise for anyone who want to be in the mainstream? What are the do’s and dont’s?
MG: I would say be original and have fun with  your music. It will pay you back . Keep an eye on what and who is hot.
But don’t be a douche bag or arrogant bastard.

V: Who are you feeling in the rap game right now?
MG: I am  feeling Young Jeezy, Drake, Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Fabulous, Red Café, Nippy and J Rock
from the West Coast.
